Questions for pentecostal and charismatics
Got these from a reader, and dont have time to address them in the next few days. So how about it my loyal readers, would you like to take one each and answer here and/or on your own blogs? Labels: Ephesians
(1) Was there a specific purpose why the Holy Spirit
was witheld from converts before the Apostles came to
them (cf. the extension of the Abrahamic Covenant in
the New Covenant)?
(2) What role does the Holy Spirit play in
regeneration? How is that different from your view of
"baptism" of the Spririt? Are they compatible?
(3) Necessarily (to be theologically honest), you
would have to admit that believers can lose their
salvation based on the aberrant Pentecostal view on
the subsequent baptism of the Spirit. Is this true?
(4) What does the Pentecostal ordo salutis look like?
(5) What about the fact that miraculous gifts
(healing, gifts of different languages, etc) were not
present for 2,000 years after apostolic age (cf.
Charasmatic Chaos by John MacArthur)?
(6) What role did tongues (glo?ssa = language)
play at Pentecost in the early church (again, cf. the
expansion of the Abrahamic Covenant in the New)? What
role does that have now?
(7) What about the fact that none of the epistles
outline a subsequent experience of the Spirit as
advocated by Pentecostals?
(8) How does a Pentecostal get around Ephesians
1:13-14?
(9) Does the Holy Spirit want to be exalted according
to the Biblical record? What is the role of the Holy
Spirit in the taxis of the Trinity?
