Bible Gateway : PROV 3;

Bible Gateway : PROV 3; Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight (or direct) your paths.

I remain convinced that these words are a good foundation for any life. My grandfather was told them by his father on his death bed and the words have been precious to Warnock's ever since (if not before!)

I am sure that life is not merely chance and having landed on my feet in a job that I love recently I am sure that the myriad chances that led to this event are directed by an inteligence that is working for me. Funny how even many Christians don't like the idea that someone else is directing their paths. Personally I would rather trust the creator of the universe to lead my steps than my own punny intellect. I would never have dreamt of doing the job I am now and whilst it is busy, I have never yet been happier at work!

Of course its easy to believe all that when things are going well, it hasnt always been that way for me, and the challenge of faith as someone has put it just where in our daily lives do we find examples of God's mercy, wisdom and justice?

Mercedes may kill you!!!

I recently had a near death experience in a mercedes! Herzlich Willkommen bei Mercedes-Benz - Welcome to Mercedes-Benz says the website. Welcome to the afterlife thought I! Having had the car for 4 days as a company car from my posh new job (no I didnt choose to have a merc- I wanted the Jaguar X-type but someone else got in their first!) it nearnly killed me!

Picture the scene, M25 at 6-50am (I am missing the traffic that way- my little secret don't tell anyone but working late is passe, working early on the othe hand is cool!). The Motoway is really moving, busy but FAST. I am surrounded by lorries and other people sensible enough to get up early. In the fast lane at 69 miles per hour, the car just dies on me. No there are no lights, no it doesnt put and NO I didnt run out of diesal and NO I hadnt put unleaded in instead!

Someone was looking after me though, as usual, and amazingly no one hit me as a somehow managed to get it onto the hard shoulder as it coasted to a halt. The thing sarted again, but then a few minutes later as I was gingerly doing around 30-40mph in the slow lane IT DID IT AGAIN!!!!

Mercedes left me on the motorway for 1 and a half hours, and in the end the AA came for me (on my private membership!) Mercedes looked at it and initially refused to even have it taken in for fuller testing! Personally I was not too happy about the idea of relying on what is probably a faulty computer ('There can't be anything wrong because the computer has no memory of switching off and nearly killing you actually!). Whoever said computers were always a blessing was wrong!

'Smart' hospital to improve care

There are some wild ideas about a 'Smart' hospital to improve care. Hey if I was still in the NHS I would be happy if I even had access to an email system or the ability to look at electronic journals online! Amazingly enough most hospital doctors dont even have access to PC's on their desks. Amazing to think that something as high risk as reading someones dodgy handwriting is still relied on for medicating out sickest patients in hospital! Trust me you wouldnt want to be reading my handwriting rather than my blog!
